Best Personalised Workout App for Your Glute Shape

Three shape-led programs, a 28 day plan built from your answers, and a camera that scores every rep on device.

12 of 15 reps FORM 92% Depth, tempo and control, scored live On device. No video leaves your phone.

Short answer

Of the five apps compared, Butt Lift is the pick for glute shape training on iPhone.

Choose Lift & Sculpt for upper glute lift, V-Shape Builder for side glutes and waist, or Full Curve for balanced shape.

It then builds a 28 day plan around your strength, equipment and session length, while the camera counts and scores every rep. Fitbod is better for gym load, Sweat for trainer-led breadth.

The short version

  • Butt Lift is an iPhone glute app that uses the camera to count each rep and score it live on depth, tempo and control, with pose detection running on device.
  • Three shape-led programs set the emphasis: Lift & Sculpt for upper glute lift, V-Shape Builder for side glutes and waist, Full Curve for balanced all round shape.
  • Onboarding builds a real 28 day plan from your program, strength, weekly frequency, session length and focus areas, and reroutes around flagged knees, hips, lower back or wrists.
  • Of the five apps compared, Fitbod has the strongest load progression for gym lifting and Sweat the widest trainer-authored range.
  • Training changes muscle size and strength only. No app here changes bone structure or fat distribution, and Butt Lift does not promise a silhouette.

Our picks

  • Top pick for glute shape: Butt Lift Three shape-led programs, automatic rep counting and form scoring, all folded into a 28 day plan built from your own answers.
  • Best for load progression: Fitbod The strongest programming engine here. Non-linear periodisation, weight and rep recommendations, and it adapts to your edits. Not glute-specific, but hard to beat if you lift in a gym.
  • Best for trainer-authored breadth: Sweat Named trainers, home and gym variants, Apple Watch and a large community. Sweat wins on modality range.
  • Best for a plan handed to you: 30 Day Butt Challenge Pro No equipment, video demos and habit scaffolding across a fixed 30 days, plus HealthKit sync and diet plans.
  • Best free minimalist habit: Booty Builder Ad-free, 4.6 MB, one squat target across four weeks. Nothing to learn, nothing to pay.

What "glute shape" training can and cannot do

Bone structure, pelvic width and where your body stores fat are not on the table. Training changes muscle size and strength, and that is it.

That still matters, because glute muscle sits over that structure and it is the part you can influence.

Shape-specific programming means emphasis: which glute region gets the most volume, and which movement patterns dominate your week.

An app promising a specific silhouette is selling something it cannot deliver. An honest one biases your training and measures whether you actually did it.

Mapping your shape to a program

Butt Lift asks which shape you are training for during onboarding, then builds the plan around it.

Lift & Sculpt targets upper glute lift, leaning on hinge and bridge patterns: glute bridge, hip thrust, single-leg bridge, donkey kick.

V-Shape Builder targets the side glutes and waist, so abduction work carries more of the load: fire hydrant, curtsy lunge, sumo squat, lunge.

Full Curve spreads volume across all ten exercises for balanced all round shape. It is the right default if you are unsure.

All three pull from the same ten glute focused movements: glute bridge, hip thrust, squat, sumo squat, lunge, donkey kick, fire hydrant, curtsy lunge, single-leg bridge and step-up.

The emphasis changes, not the quality of the exercise.

The alternatives, honestly

30 Day Butt Challenge Pro gives you a fixed 30 day plan of video demos with no equipment, plus HealthKit sync, diet plans and a transformation tracker.

Personalisation there is a difficulty level and a diet choice, and nothing about the exercise is verified.

Booty Builder is a small, ad-free squat challenge. Pick a total between 600 and 3000 squats, spread it over four weeks, tick off progress.

It trains one exercise only, which rules out shape-specific programming.

Sweat is the strongest of the five for breadth and authorship: named trainers, home and gym variants, Apple Watch, a real community layer.

Workouts are video-led and you mark them complete yourself.

Fitbod has the strongest load progression of the five: non-linear periodisation, weight and rep recommendations, an algorithm that learns from your edits.

But glute work comes from generic muscle-group targeting, so there is no shape-led programme.

Why Butt Lift is different

Every other app here asks you to confirm you did the work. Butt Lift counts it.

The iPhone camera counts each rep and scores it live on depth, tempo and control.

Sloppy reps score lower and get flagged with a cue, and a clean rep streak drives the combo.

Pose detection runs on device. No video is recorded, stored or uploaded, and no account is required.

The plan is built across 28 days from your program, strength, weekly frequency, session length and focus areas. It is not one fixed plan for everyone.

It adapts to what you own, from bodyweight to bands and dumbbells, and reroutes around flagged knees, hips, lower back or wrists.

Sessions run about 5 to 25 minutes. The coach voice comes in three tones, Sweet, Sassy and Savage, with streaks and session ranks on top.

The claim is narrow and defensible: personalised glute training with automatic rep counting and form scoring. It trains and measures, and does not promise an outcome.

How Butt Lift decides a rep counts Pose detection runs on device. No video is recorded, stored or uploaded. STEP 1 Camera sees you Body points tracked as you move, live, on your iPhone. STEP 2 Each rep is scored 1. Depth: how low you go 2. Tempo: how fast 3. Control: how steady Clean rep Counted, scores high, combo streak grows. ! Sloppy rep Scored lower and flagged with a cue. Cue plays, you fix the next rep Apps without a camera You tick the set off yourself, so the log records what you say you did, not how the reps were actually performed. Solid outline: counted. Dashed outline: flagged, with a coaching cue. Butt Lift: personalised glute training with automatic rep counting and form scoring. Ten glute exercises, sessions of about 5 to 25 minutes, no account required.
How a rep is judged in Butt Lift: the camera tracks your body points on device, scores depth, tempo and control, then either counts the rep towards your combo or flags it with a cue. Apps that rely on self-reporting record the tick, not the technique.

Which one should you actually download

Want a shape to train towards, feedback on every rep and a plan built from your own answers? Take Butt Lift. Of the five, it is the one that scores the rep itself.

Want a cheap streak to keep you honest? Booty Builder is free and ad-free, and a reasonable place to start.

Questions people ask

Can shape-specific training actually change my glute shape?

It changes size and strength in the muscles you train. It does not change bone structure or where your body stores fat, and shape is largely genetic.

Emphasising side glutes or upper glute work biases where you build. No app can promise a silhouette, and Butt Lift does not.

Can you cheat the rep counter?

Not usefully. Scoring runs on depth, tempo and control, so half reps and rushed reps score lower and get flagged with a cue. The score at the end reflects it.

Does Butt Lift record me while I train?

No. Pose detection runs on device, and no video is recorded, stored or uploaded. The camera reads your movement in the moment.

Does it work on Silent?

The coach voice plays through normal media audio, so muting the ringer does not silence it. Your volume setting still does.

Rep counting and scoring are visual and keep working either way, so a silent session still counts every rep.

Which program should I choose if I am not sure?

Full Curve. It works the glutes across all ten exercises instead of biasing one region. Switch to Lift & Sculpt or V-Shape Builder later, once you know what you want to emphasise.

What if I have knee or lower back problems?

Flag them in onboarding. Butt Lift reroutes around flagged knees, hips, lower back or wrists. It is a training app, not medical advice, so see a clinician if anything hurts.
